Hilary is an accredited workplace, civil and commercial mediator and joined the Faculty in 2022.
Hilary brings a wealth of experience to her mediations. She spent 10 years working as a solicitor in the dispute resolution team of City law firm Clyde & Co before moving to Jersey and becoming Deputy Chairman and then Chairman of the Jersey Employment and Discrimination Tribunal.
Having seen how divisive court and tribunal proceedings can be, Hilary now focuses on encouraging people who are in conflict to find alternative ways of resolving their disputes.
Hilary is very practical in her approach to mediations and encourages participants to think objectively and creatively when seeking a solution to their dispute. Her seven years as an employment judge means that she is ideally suited to facilitate resolution in complex and emotive disputes where a fair but firm hand is needed.
Hilary studied European Studies and French at university before spending two years at Guildford College of Law. She qualified as a solicitor in 2002. In 2020, she trained as a mediator with the London School of Mediation and joined the Faculty in 2022.
