I was a student of LSM (Full mediation course) and passed in 2016. I wanted to write to you to let you know how beneficial the qualification has been and the success that it has helped generate to my career as a Mediator/Negotiator. When I finished the course, I took Judith's advice and in her words went "Looking for trouble" I promptly found some and within days I had successfully mediated a community issue which had arisen between the parish council and local community. After this initial success, I became a volunteer mediator and observed several mediations for a national company. I then left my role in mental health and found a job working with local communities. The role involved mediating disputes between housing associations and residents, neighborhood issues as well as dealing with internal company disputes. After a year in this role, I left to set up my own mediation and negotiation company (Vantage Mediation) and took on more civil and commercial work as well as training others in how to mediate and resolve issues. I am currently working in an award-winning mediation team as a crisis negotiator and mediator for Police services and local government. It all started with the LSM as the LSM Mediation course taught everything I needed to know to get started in the world of ADR.
